How It Works

From your own documents to a live AI assistant on your website in three steps. Most businesses do it in under an hour, and no developer is needed.

Step 1 — Build your knowledge base

  • What it is. Your knowledge base is the set of your own documents that the AI assistant on your website is allowed to use, and its only source: every answer a visitor gets comes from these documents and nowhere else. When they do not cover a question, the assistant says so rather than inventing an answer.
  • What goes in. Any knowledge you want the assistant to have. For a business, the things customers ask about: prices, services, opening hours, policies, and the questions you answer by email every week. But it can just as well be a product manual, the rules of a sport, a course syllabus, or a personal résumé, so that an assistant can answer questions about you. If it is written down, it can be the knowledge base.
  • What happens next. The assistant reads your documents and learns what each part covers. From then on, a visitor's question is answered from the parts that match it, and a changed document brings the assistant up to date within minutes.

Step 2 — Configure your assistant

  • What it is. The assistant already knows your material; this step decides how it presents itself. The AI assistant's appearance is fully customizable, so it can match your website exactly and carry all your corporate attributes: your name, your colors, your logo, your tone. The aim is a branded chat assistant that visitors take for part of your site, not a tool bolted onto it.
  • What you set. A name and a welcome message. The five suggested questions a visitor can click instead of typing. Your colors and logo, down to each part of the chat window, so the chat widget looks like part of your website design. And whether the assistant is public, for anyone who visits, or private, for your own people only. What each plan includes is on the pricing page.
  • What happens next. Most of it is done for you: the welcome message is written from your documents when the knowledge base is built, and on the plans that include suggested questions they are written from your documents at the press of a button; you change either only if you want to. The step takes minutes, and any of it can be changed later without touching your website.

Step 3 — Embed on your site, or host it with us if you have no website

  • What it is. Choosing where visitors will find the AI assistant. It can be a chat bubble in the corner of your website, which opens a chat window when clicked. It can be a chat embedded in one page of your site, always open. Or it can be a chat page of its own, hosted on aichatplacement.com and open to anyone with its address, for when you have no website or want to send people a link.
  • What you do. To add the AI chat to your website, paste one line into it; whoever looks after your site can do it in a minute, and it works on any site. For the hosted chat page, there is nothing to install: share the address by link, by email, or as a QR code on a card or a flyer.
  • What happens next. Visitors ask, the assistant answers, at any hour, with nobody at your end. You can read every conversation, so you see what people ask and what they were told, and you know what to add to your documents next.
